Local Assembly Member, Nick Ramsay marked Holocaust Memorial Day by joining pupils and staff from Cantref Primary School and King Henry VIII School at a service held at St Mary’s Priory Church, Abergavenny this morning.
Holocaust Memorial Day is a national event in the UK and throughout the world dedicated to the remembrance of the victims of the Holocaust and subsequent genocides such as those in Darfur, Kosovo and elsewhere.
Speaking today Nick said:
“I think it’s very important to mark this Memorial Day that was first held in January 2001 and has been on the same date every year since.
“The service will have helped the pupils aware of the awful atrocities inflicted by humankind on their innocent victims and hopefully will help prevent history repeating itself.
“The readings and music performed by the young people was particularly moving.”
