AM welcomes confirmation of new Post Office premises‏

MONMOUTH Assembly Member Nick Ramsay is delighted to have received confirmation that Gilwern Post Office is to move from Main Road to new premises at Gilwern Garage on the Crickhowell Road, where it will operate as one of the Post Office’s new local style branches.

Welcoming the news, Mr Ramsay said:

“I am sure customers will be pleased to know that the new operator intends to take a number of steps to improve access to the branch. There will be a marked walkway across the forecourt to the entrance, where access will be made level to aid wheelchair users, with the addition of a grab rail to assist customers entering the shop. A marked disabled bay will also be provided at the front of the store and the car park at the rear has been resurfaced and new lighting installed.

“This change also means that local residents will benefit from longer opening hours across seven days a week.

“The Post Office plays a vital role in the life of a community so it’s good to know that proposals are in hand to make the new branch as accessible and customer friendly as possible.”
