MONMOUTH Assembly Member Nick Ramsay has been contacted by Save Usk Library Group as supporters of the group have many concerns about the library’s move across the road to share facilities in the old red brick school building.
Speaking today Nick said:
“Although the supporters of Save Usk Library Group are pleased that Usk will not lose its library, they have many concerns about sharing the old school with the other groups already using the building. They feel amalgamating many services in the one “community hub” will not work well in practice.
“I understand also that the Group are unhappy that the consultation periods and advertising for the proposed changes were not sufficient. I was sorry to hear this, but understand the group is hoping to meet with Monmouthshire County Council again soon to discuss the outcomes of the consultation.
“I hope we will see a satisfactory outcome for the residents of Usk very soon. The Council is placed in a very difficult position balancing the need to reduce expenditure whilst making every effort to maintain services with greatly reduced funding.”
