AM welcomes new school projects

MONMOUTH Assembly Member Nick Ramsay has welcomed  news that Monmouth is to have a brand new comprehensive school, while work on a new primary school for Raglan  is already under way.

The two projects, together with a new build for Caldicot School, are part of Monmouthshire County Council’s £80 million investment in the county’s education system, part funded by the Welsh Government.

Speaking on Wednesday, Mr Ramsay said:

“I am delighted that our campaigning for these new schools has finally paid off. Monmouthshire County Council has had enormous success with their building projects over the last decade and these latest projects are another sign of their success, the icing on the cake.

“Both Monmouth Comprehensive School and Raglan Primary have fantastic reputations but have been suffering from woefully inadequate buildings for many years.

“I am delighted that at long last both pupils and teachers will be getting the schools they so richly deserve.”
