AM calls for tactile marking at Chepstow Station

MONMOUTH Assembly Member Nick Ramsay has written to Arriva Trains Wales asking if one of the platforms at Chepstow Station could have tactile paving installed.

Mr Ramsay contacted the Customer Services’ Department after being informed  by a constituent who has visual impairment that there was no tactile marking to indicate the edge of the platform on one side of Chepstow Station for the trains going to Wales.

Speaking on Wednesday, Mr Ramsay said:

“It is my understanding that current standards state that when a platform is upgraded and tactile paving installed, all platforms at a particular station must be of the same standard. It seems that one platform at Chepstow was upgraded some years ago and tactile paving installed but the other was not, and that is not permissible now.

“I hope the problem can be resolved before too long as passengers with visual impairment are at serious risk when using the platform when travelling into Wales.”
