THE roof of Raglan church is set to be raised even higher when Monmouth Assembly Member Nick Ramsay hosts a quiz and curry evening at Raglan Parc Golf Club on Saturday, September 6th.
Over £6,000 has so far been raised towards the £400,000 needed to repair the roof of St Cadoc’s Church, which is a Grade 11 listed building. The Raise the Roof appeal was launched last year by the Revd Joan Wakeling, who has since retired and the baton has now been passed to Raglan’s new Vicar, the Revd Canon Tim Clement.
After meeting up with Revd Clement on Monday, Mr Ramsay, himself a keen pub quizzer, said:
“I am delighted to have been asked to host this quiz – we’re putting together a wide range of questions, including pictures, which hopefully will appeal to all ages. The Raise the Roof campaign is a very worthwhile appeal in aid of a beautiful and historic building.
“With some fabulous raffle prizes up for grabs, including a cash prize of £200, two 1st class train tickets and a TV/DVD Combi, this promises to be a thoroughly enjoyable evening.”
Tickets (£12.50 including the curry supper) and raffle tickets are available from Raglan Post Office, from Beverley Jones on 01291 691991 and from Mary and Robert Hughes on 01291 690472. The evening starts at 7pm. Teams of up to six.
