MONMOUTH Assembly Member Nick Ramsay has condemned the latest ambulance response times figures released earlier this week as “appalling.”
Figures for Monmouthshire for July show that only 47.5 per cent of Category A (immediate life-threatening call-outs) arrived within the Welsh Government’s eight minute target.
Describing the statistics as “shocking,” Mr Ramsay said people in Monmouthshire deserved better.
“I have received many complaints from constituents concerned and distressed about ambulances failing to respond promptly to emergency calls. A swift response could mean the difference between life and death.
“I will again be urging the Welsh Government to address this very serious issue. Despite the hard work and dedication of our ambulance crews, people’s lives are being put at risk. Patients and their families must be confident that in an emergency if they dial 999 they will have a very swift response.”
