Local Assembly Member, Nick Ramsay AM, has paid tribute to the retiring Chair of Monmouth Comprehensive School’s governing body.
Mr Stuart McLester is standing down as Chair of Governors after seventeen years in the post, a period of massive change for the school.
Mr Ramsay speaking after attending the school’s annual awards ceremony last Thursday said:
“It was great catching up with staff and pupils at the annual presentation of prizes, and as in previous years I was amazed by the achievements of the pupils in both academic and vocational areas. It was a prize-giving event with a difference as we were treated to a breath-taking performance by cyclists “Savage Skills”.
“The event provided an opportunity to thank the school’s long serving Chair of Governors Stuart McLester who is stepping down after seventeen years in the role. During this time Jim has done an enormous amount for the school, not least paving the way for the world class new school building which is due to open in 2017.
“Monmouth Comprehensive is clearly maintaining its high standards and is a great example of Monmouthshire education at its best. Keep up the good work.”
