MONMOUTH Assembly Member Nick Ramsay has welcomed news that Government officials are progressing with recommendations to prevent future flooding at Llanellen Bridge on the A4042, which caused major problems last winter.
Mr Ramsay has been chasing the Minister responsible for Economy, Science and Transport, Edwina Hart AM, to take remedial action to prevent a similar problem occurring this winter.
Speaking on Wednesday, he said:
“I have received a letter from the Minister stating that officials are looking at recommendations made in the scoping report, and survey work was completed in August. This survey information is currently being considered with a view to producing design proposals for the mitigation of further flooding in the area.
“This is a problem that has existed for many years and naturally local people are worried that they may have to face another winter of flooding problems and chaos on the roads. I hope it won’t be too much longer before the design work is completed so that work can begin before the onset of winter.
“I will continue to keep up the pressure for action to be taken.”
