Local Assembly Member, Nick Ramsay is supporting the campaign started by local resident Vicky Evans for improved safety measures for pedestrians in the village of Trellech.
Last Friday Nick met Vicky and other local residents during the busy afternoon school run in Trellech to see for himself the dangers facing pedestrians especially on the busy B4293 running through the village.
Speaking today Nick said:
“I appreciate the local concerns of many parents who walk their children to the village playgroup and school. They clearly feel unsafe due to the lack of pavements in some places and the speed of passing traffic.
“If we are to encourage more people to walk within the village to all key amenities they must feel they can do so safely.
“I’ve asked the Council to let me know as soon as their assessment has been completed. We then need urgent action. Initially, we need a new Trellech sign at the north of the village and a 20 mph speed limit.”
