MONMOUTH Assembly Member Nick Ramsay will receive a petition containing over 98,000 signatures on the steps of the Senedd in Cardiff tomorrow.
The petition, which was set up by Usk resident, Julie McGowan, calls on the Welsh Government to give all cancer patients in Wales access to a cancer drugs fund similar to the fund that exists for English patients across the border to ensure equity.
Speaking today Mr Ramsay said:
“It’s outrageous that cancer sufferers in Monmouthshire do not have the same access to cancer drugs as their neighbours across the border in England.
“I look forward to receiving this petition as it has received tremendous support, and I hope it will send a very strong, unambiguous message to the Welsh Government that the status quo is not good enough.
“We are all supposed to be part of a National Health Service, and Welsh patients should be treated equally with our neighbours in England.”
