MONMOUTH Assembly Member Nick Ramsay is urging local secondary schools to take the opportunity to apply for a grant of up to £1,000 to develop creative and innovative projects to commemorate the First World War.
Cymru’n Cofio Wales Remembers 1914-1918 is the official programme to mark the centenary of the First World War in Wales and is co-ordinated by the Welsh Government, working in partnership with organisations from across Wales and beyond.
Speaking today, Mr Ramsay said:
“I hope our local secondary schools will take up this offer, which is especially relevant in the year we mark 100 years since the start of the First World War.
“Each school can decide how they want to develop this project and can work with other schools or undertake collaborative projects.
“It is so important that young people understand the enormous impact the First World War had on so many lives and in particular on the lives of their ancestors and people living in their locality.”
Schools wishing to apply should email FWWCommemorationGrant@wales.gsi.gov.uk to receive a grant application pack.
