LOCAL Assembly Member Nick Ramsay is supporting calls for a comprehensive rethink of the Welsh Government cuts to Wales’ Young Farmers’ Clubs, which include seven clubs in the Gwent Federation.
Speaking on Wednesday, Mr Ramsay:
“Young Farmers’ Clubs will be hit hard by the Government’s inexplicable decision to withdraw £140,000 in grant aid from April 1st, particularly as a £20,000 grant from Natural Resources Wales is also in question.
“Young Farmers’ Clubs are one of the largest rural youth organisations in the country and are an invaluable part of many local communities. Not only do they offer young people with a love for agricultural life a unique opportunity to develop their skills, they also provide an important social element for young people living in rural communities.
“This decision is bad for our farming industry and bad for Wales.”
