MONMOUTH Assembly Member Nick Ramsay has condemned the latest ambulance response times figures released today (Wednesday) as shocking.
Figures for February revealed that in Wales just 51.2% of ambulances arrived at the scene of an immediately life-threatening call within the Welsh Government’s target time of eight minutes, while in Monmouthshire the figure was even lower, with only 41.3% of ambulances arriving within the target time.
Commenting on the figures, Mr Ramsay said:
“Despite past assurances that the situation would improve, these appalling figures reveal all too clearly the Welsh Government’s failure to tackle the problem. People are still having to wait far too long for a response to an urgent call. When someone dials 999 they should be confident that they will receive medical attention within minutes – a swift response can in some cases mean the difference between life and death.
“I will again be urging the Welsh Government to address this very serious issue.”
