AM urges Minister to address safety and signage issues at Llanvihangel Crucorney

MONMOUTH Assembly Member Nick Ramsay is to keep up the pressure on the Welsh Government’s Transport Minister, Edwina Hart AM, to address a number of safety issues in the Llanvihangel Crucorney area.

Mr Ramsay, who wrote to both Monmouthshire County Council and the Transport Minister after attending a site meeting with local residents,  said:

“I was pleased to see from the Minister’s reply to my letter that signage in the village is to be enhanced, although not immediately it seems. There are also plans to alter the road to improve road safety but no detailed information is available at present on exactly what is envisaged.

“Having met local residents on site, I appreciate their concerns relating to the right turn at the Crossways cul-de-sac and the right turn to Llanvihangel Court and associated farms. They are also hoping that the two Llanvihangel Crucorney village name signs erected by Monmouthshire County Council each side of the trunk road more than half a mile north of the Crossways junction will be relocated to the south side of Crossways (alongside the 50mph signs) so that motorists driving along the trunk road north from Abergavenny will see that they are entering a residential area and be extra vigilant.

“I hope it won’t be too long before we have some detailed proposals to consider and will continue to press for work to be undertaken as soon as possible.”
