LOCAL Assembly Member Nick Ramsay recently joined Disabled Access Rights campaigner Daniel Biddle for a walk through Abergavenny to look at areas in the town which are causing concern for people with disabilities.
Mr Biddle, a survivor of the 7/7 London bombings, now lives in Abergavenny and is campaigning for better access facilities for people with disabilities, both locally and further afield.
Speaking after the walkabout, Mr Ramsay said:
“It was a pleasure to meet Daniel and to hear about the work he is doing to champion disabled access issues and to get a better insight into the problems disabled people face when trying to access facilities and services in the town.
“I am very grateful to Daniel for taking the time to highlight these problems. I will be raising the issue at the Assembly and pointing out that while there is legislation to promote disabled access, it is not delivering results on the ground.”
