AM welcomes news of Home-Start grant

LOCAL  Assembly Member Nick Ramsay has welcomed news that Home-Start, Monmouthshire, has been awarded a grant of £189,833 from the Big Lottery Fund People and Places programme.

Home-Start is one of 12 projects across Wales to be awarded a share of a total of £3,438,765 allocated to the People and Places programme.

The funding will be used to provide holistic support to families where one or more parent is experiencing enduring and acute mental health problems. Volunteers will provide a befriending service, as well as providing practical, respite and emotional support by equipping families with coping strategies and improving their confidence. It will also improve the emotional health and wellbeing of children.

Expressing his delight at the news, Mr Ramsay said:

“Programmes  like People and Places can make such a difference to the lives of so many people. Home-Start is well known and highly regarded for its work in helping struggling families in Monmouthshire and I am sure all those involved will be thrilled that this funding will enable them to continue to help families in need.”
