Monmouth Assembly Member Nick Ramsay has been notified by Dwr Cymru Welsh Water regarding a forthcoming scheme to upgrade the local wastewater system in the Hereford Road area of Abergavenny.
It is estimated that the work will take around 17 weeks to complete and will involve the construction of around 200 metres of new sewer pipe on Grosvenor Road between the junctions at Clifton Road and Hereford Road. Work will begin on Richmond Road on July 13th for approximately three to four weeks before moving on to Grosvenor Road and Heol Hamlin. Temporary four way traffic lights will be in place for around a week while work is carried out at the junctions of Clifton Road and Grosvenor Road and the latter will be closed to through traffic for approximately eleven weeks from August 12th to 30th October.
Speaking on Wednesday, Mr Ramsay said:
“While there will obviously be some inconvenience while the work is being carried out, Dwr Cymru Welsh Water are assuring residents that there will be no impact on their water or wastewater services and that they will do their best to keep disruption to a minimum.
“Once completed, the work should help alleviate flooding to properties during periods of heavy rainfall.”
