AM presses for improvements to road surface at Llanover

MONMOUTH  Assembly Member Nick Ramsay has written to the Welsh Government Minister for Transport, Edwina Hart AM, asking when any work is likely to be carried out to improve the poor road surface on the A4042 at Llanover.

Mr Ramsay has recently been contacted by constituents who are concerned about this section of the A4042, extending from the top of the hill and descending down to the village before entering the 40mph limit.

Speaking on Wednesday, he said:

“This section of the road has been in a very poor state for some time, with many patched areas on both sides of the carriageway, which require resurfacing.

“Unfortunately, this part of the busy trunk road was not dealt with when resurfacing was undertaken in the area back in 2013 and my constituents have been asking when this stretch of the highway will be resurfaced given the constant wear from heavy traffic.

“I will continue to monitor the situation and hope it won’t be too long before improvements are implemented.”
