MONMOUTH Assembly Member Nick Ramsay has welcomed news that the design for the longer term solution and the flood alleviation works on the A4042 at Llanellen are currently being finalised, with works due to commence this autumn and to be completed before winter.
Welsh Government officials are also currently completing signing in the area, which should improve traffic management if the A4042 becomes flooded.
Speaking on Wednesday, Mr Ramsay said:
“I am sure my constituents will be pleased by this update from the Welsh Transport Minister indicating that at last some progress is being made.
“Residents of Llanellen have understandably been anxious that remedial action should be taken to avoid another winter of chaos on the roads caused by flooding on the A4042.
“Progress has been painfully slow but it does seem that at last measures will be put in place to resolve the problem before the onset of winter.”
