MONMOUTH Assembly Member Nick Ramsay is to keep up the pressure on the Welsh Government for the road surface on the A4042 at Llanover to be resurfaced.
Mr Ramsay said he was disappointed to learn from the Welsh Government’s Transport Minister, Edwina Hart AM, that it was unlikely that a scheme to resurface this section of the road would be progressed during the current financial year due to other competing priorities across the network, and that it was more likely to be next year before resurfacing at Llanover was considered.
Speaking on Wednesday, Mr Ramsay said:
“I am sure my constituents will not be very happy by this news. This busy section of road was not dealt with when resurfacing in the area was carried out back in 2013. It has been in a very poor state for some time, with many patched areas on both sides of the carriageway which requires resurfacing.
“I have asked my constituents to let me know if the road surface deteriorates rapidly in the meantime and will be pressing the Welsh Government to make this a priority.”
