AM follows up Abergavenny traffic complaints

MONMOUTH  Assembly Member Nick Ramsay says he will continue to monitor progress on action being taken to improve traffic problems in Abergavenny, which have arisen due to the installation of temporary traffic lights in Monk Street while damaged buildings are repaired.

Constituents have expressed concern over regular and, in some cases, long delays on the A40 through the town and fear that the town’s economy is suffering as a result.

Speaking on Wednesday, Mr Ramsay said:

“I have written on this issue to the Minister on a number of occasions. In her most recent response she said her officials are continuing to liaise with the property owners and are in the process of designing suitable signs to provide an alternative route to the A40 when the area becomes congested.

“I hope these measures will help ease traffic problems but will take the matter up again with the Minister if the situation doesn’t improve.”
