Earlier this week local Assembly Member Nick Ramsay attended the launch of a major report published to help further improve palliative care of children in Wales.
The report, commissioned by Ty Hafan, the hospice for children in Wales, and published by the Welsh Institute for Health and Social Care provides recommendations for improving the support already available to life-limited children.
Speaking today Nick said:
“I was shocked to learn that at any one time there are 1050 children across Wales who would benefit from specialist paediatric palliative care, and that around 10% of these children will die in any one year.
“Ty Hafan has cared for over 650 life-limited children and provided support to their families since its launch in 1999. Anything that can be done to help drive forward key improvements to end-of -life care for children and young people in Wales is to be welcomed.
