WITH winter well on the way, local Assembly Member Nick Ramsay is urging constituents to ensure they are taking advantage of free help and support with their energy bills.
“There are a number of simple steps that you can take to make sure you’re doing all you can to keep your bill down and your home warm,” he said.
“One of the best ways to be energy efficient and keep warm is to insulate your home. British Gas is currently offering customers free loft and cavity wall insulation, which can save hundreds of pounds.
“It’s also important that you make sure that you’re on the best gas and electricity tariff, so that you can get the best deal to suit you, and there’s also extra support for vulnerable customers so it’s worth checking to see if you’re entitled to any discount.
“Advice and support for anyone struggling with their household bills is also available from the British Gas Energy Trust, an independent charity established in 2004, which has helped more than 120,000 people with debt advice and grants.
“British Gas has teamed up with 18 debt centres across the UK to fund support workers to help people apply for a grant and provide face to face advice – you don’t have to be a British Gas customer to apply.”
