AM vows to keep up the pressure for noise mitigation works at The Bryn

MONMOUTH Assembly Member Nick Ramsay has vowed to keep up the pressure for noise mitigation works to be put in place on the A40 between Abergavenny and Raglan after learning that work was unlikely to begin in the near future, due to lack of funding.

Mr Ramsay, who has been pressing the Welsh Government Minister for Transport, Edwina Hart AM, for years for action to be taken to reduce noise levels in the vicinity, said he was extremely disappointed by a recent update from the Minister which said that work was unlikely to take place in the near future. The initial design assessment indicated that noise fencing would be the most appropriate form of mitigation at this location.

“People living in and around the Bryn will be dismayed by this continued delay,” said Mr Ramsay. “They feel they have be asked to put up with excessive and sometimes intolerable levels of noise for far too long and have been campaigning vigorously for action to be taken.

“I will continue to press for the work to be undertaken as soon as funds are made available.”
