MONMOUTH Assembly Member Nick Ramsay has welcomed an assurance from the Welsh Government’s First Minister, Carwyn Jones AM, that people who have been adversely affected by the dualling of the Clydach Gorge Section of the A465 between Gilwern and Brynmawr will be adequately compensated.
Raising the issue in the Assembly on Tuesday, Mr Ramsay said that while it was good to see work progressing on the dualling of the Clydach Gorge section of the A465, there had been some issues of concern.
“I have been contacted by a number of constituents with properties along the route that have not been compulsorily purchased but nonetheless have been devalued by the project,” he said. .
“I asked the First Minister what discussion the Welsh Government had had with people finding themselves in this position and how the Government would ensure that they were adequately compensated.
“I was pleased to hear that the Welsh Government intend to compensate those people who will find themselves living a little closer to the road than previously for loss of amenity.”
