MONMOUTH Assembly Member Nick Ramsay has welcomed news that St Cadoc’s Church in Raglan has received a grant of £147,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund towards restoring the church roof.
Nick, who lives in Raglan, has been a keen supporter of the numerous local fundraising events organised by the Raise the Roof Committee, and has himself hosted a number of quizzes to help boost funds.
Speaking today, he said:
“This is wonderful news for Raglan. When the campaign was first launched in October 2013, the village was faced with the daunting task of raising a substantial amount towards the £400,000 needed to repair the roof of this beautiful church.
“But thanks to the dedicated work of the Raise the Roof team and the enthusiastic support from the community, by the beginning of the year over £30,000 had been raised via a whole host of events, ranging from an Elvis Concert to a Christmas Tree Exhibition.
“The fundraisers have worked incredibly hard and I am delighted that their efforts have been rewarded by securing this grant.”
