LOCAL Assembly Member Nick Ramsay has congratulated Monmouthshire County Council for being singled out for praise for taking support for carers seriously.
While new findings have identified poor practice in the delivery of direct payments for adults for the purchase of assistance or services, Monmouthshire County Council has been commended for good practice in supporting carers, with networks, guidance, respite care and health checks offered, and carers forming their own support groups. The review was undertaken by the Auditor General for Wales.
Commenting today, Mr Ramsay said:
“All credit to Monmouthshire County Council in setting a good example in the delivery of direct payments. Hopefully, this will encourage other local authorities to work with Welsh Government Ministers to help vulnerable people live independent lives via the provision of direct payments.”
