Today, local Assembly Member Nick Ramsay attended the Raising of the Flag ceremony at County Hall, Usk, to mark Commonwealth Day.
Each year hundreds of Commonwealth flags are flown across the Commonwealth, the United Kingdom and beyond to celebrate the true value of the Commonwealth, as an increasingly multi-cultural world seeks unity, understanding and tolerance.
Speaking after the event, Mr Ramsay said:
“It was good to see so many people attending this ceremony at County Hall. The Commonwealth has been a great force for good over many decades and is a great example of how a family of nations can work together for the greater good.
“I am pleased that Monmouthshire County Council has joined with other local authorities, civic dignitaries, community groups and charities across the British Isles, to mark Commonwealth Day with this ceremony.”
