LOCAL Assembly Member Nick Ramsay met yesterday with local Monmouthshire farmers at The Wheatsheaf Inn, Llanhennock for roundtable discussions about the challenges facing the agriculture industry locally. The meeting had been arranged by local farmers Neville and Edith Waters with twenty four farmers invited and Andrew R T Davies AM also present as well as Dr Louise Brown the Conservative PCC Candidate.
Speaking after the meeting Nick said:
“This was a very useful meeting when a number of important issues were raised by valued members of our farming community.
“High on the agenda were the unpopular changes to the Basic Payment Scheme, low milk prices and the continuing problem of Bovine TB as well as other issues of great concern to farmers within Monmouthshire and across Wales.
“Our local farmers clearly need support, and I will continue to press the Welsh Government to accept this and take action to improve their situation before it’s too late.”
