MONMOUTH Assembly Member Nick Ramsay was disappointed to learn that there are still issues to be resolved before the proposed flood alleviation works on the A4042 at Llanellen can commence.
Mr Ramsay has been pressing the Welsh Assembly for some time for a resolution to the flooding problem, which has in the past caused a winter of chaos on the roads in the area.
Speaking on Monday, he said:
“Constituents are constantly chasing me about this issue and were hoping that remedial work, which had been scheduled to be completed before the onset of last winter, would be going ahead very soon.
“I have recently received a letter from the Welsh Assembly Minister for Transport, Ken Skates AM, stating that his officials are currently addressing concerns raised by the land owner and that these issues need to be resolved before the work can begin.
“Progress has been disappointingly slow. I will continue to monitor the situation in the hope that the scheme, for which funding is in place, can go ahead as soon as possible.”
