AM welcomes progress on Station Road safety issue

MONMOUTH Assembly Member Nick Ramsay has welcomed news that Monmouthshire County Council are considering extending the 30mph speed limit on Station Road, Raglan, and also what other action might be undertaken to improve pedestrian safety,  particularly between Puddleducks Nursery and Raglan School.

Speaking on Monday, Mr Ramsay said:

“Because there is no pavement along Station Road, parents are understandably concerned about the safety issue for both the school and the nursery. I understand that a proposal for a designated walkway down Station Road may be considered and hopefully the council will also decide to extend the 30mph limit beyond Puddleducks, which is currently in a 60mph zone, preferably as far as the Sports Ground. This would ensure that children walking along Station Road are not confronted by vehicles travelling at a high speed.

“The council say that these improvements may not be imminent due to scarce finances but hopefully it won’t be too before this safety issue is addressed.”
