MONMOUTH Assembly Member Nick Ramsay is hosting a Quiz for Love Zimbabwe at The Swan Hotel, Abergavenny, on Saturday (July 9th), starting at 7pm.
The Welsh Assembly has actively supported Love Zimbabwe, a registered charity in Wales, by promoting fair trade, and Nick was delighted to be invited to host Saturday night’s quiz.
Tickets, £10, include refreshments.
MONMOUTH Assembly Member Nick Ramsay has written to the Welsh Government’s Minister for Transport, Ken Skates AM, asking for an urgent update on when the scaffolding and temporary lights are likely to be removed in Abergavenny Town Centre.
Mr Ramsay has written to Mr Skates’ predecessor on many occasions regarding long traffic delays through the town centre due to the temporary traffics lights which have been in place for many months following the fire in Monk Street.
Speaking today, he said:
“I was assured that the temporary lights would be removed by now and certainly well before the Eisteddfod, which begins at the end of July.
“Unfortunately, although additional scaffolding has recently been removed from The George Hotel, one of the buildings damaged by the fire doesn’t look as if it has been repaired and there is still no sign of the scaffolding being removed.
“Until this happens, the temporary lights will presumably have to remain in place, with the continued traffic chaos at peak times in the town. Motorists are becoming increasingly frustrated by the long delays.
“I am pressing the Minister for an update as a matter of urgency so that the town will look at its best for tourists and visitors to the Eisteddfod. I hope it won’t be too long before this situation is resolved.”
MONMOUTH Assembly Member Nick Ramsay was delighted to attend a special service at Christ Church, Abergavenny, on Sunday, to mark the start of Cllr Chris Woodhouse’s tenure as Mayor of Abergavenny.
The service was conducted by Father Mark Soady, with a sermon on St Thomas the Apostle delivered by the Rev Sarah Gillard.
Pictured after the service are the Mayor and Mayoress, AM Nick Ramsay, Rev Sarah Gillard, Heather Dash, John Prosser and Maureen Powell
Speaking afterwards, Mr Ramsay said:
“It was an inspiring evening and it was good to catch up with everyone for refreshments at the church hall afterwards.
“I am looking forward to working with the new Mayor and Mayoress over the coming year.”
